Are we Here to Please Men or God? Galatians 1:10 is adamantly clear that if we seek to please men we are no longer the servants of Christ.
To serve anyone but Christ above all as a Christian is to be wicked and disobedient to the heavenly calling that God has placed on our lives. Certainly we serve others because it stems from our serving Christ, but he must always have the pre-eminence above all those we serve. We have jobs, and so we are servants to the person who hires us, we have ministries and so we are servants to those who the Lord sends us to, but the one service that is vital to the success of all others is our service to Jesus himself. Without this aspect of being a servant we are only fooling ourselves.
He alone is worthy of the best we can give because he came and humbled himself as a servant to achieve the will of God in delivering men from ignorance to truth and from wickedness to eternal life. He suffered and died as nobody before him did and nobody after him could. WE OWE HIM OUR ALLEGIANCE AND THE BEST OF ALL THAT WE ARE AND EVER WILL BE! Let’s not settle for a lesser cause when the greatest cause to ever exist is before us, and in serving him we will do the most good that can ever be done for anyone in this life or the life to come. – C R Lord, Author
